PARAGLIDING GROUNDSCHOOL LESSONS

Airtime of San Francisco offers FREE paragliding groundschool lessons every Thursday night at 7:00 PM (Winter season, during the summer, we start at 7:30). The 2007 series occurs at Jeff's Condo See below map with directions below - reservations are required...

The basics of launching and landing, speed control, and steering will be covered via videos, discussion, whiteboard drawings, and the use of a special paragliding simulator. In addition, each lesson will include a specific topic. These include Ridge Flying, Right of Way Rules, Thermal Flying, Meteorology, Paragliding Ratings, Glider Certification and more.

There is nothing to lose here. It is also a good opportunity to meet me and get a feel for what I have to offer as an instructor. In the process you will begin learning about Paragliding and have fun doing so. Advance reservations are requires, so make sure and save yourself a seat.

To attend you need to make a reservation in advance. This can be a good way to help you figure out if this is something you want to pursue, even if it is just a little curiosity. In the programs, I do regular ground schools throughout the lesson program and also make them available at other times to ongoing students if the normal time does not work out.

From the North (example San Francisco): Take 101 S. to San Mateo and Exit at the 3rd Ave "East" and cross over highway to E. 3rd Ave. Continue East about 1.5 or 2 miles or so and just opposite of the Mariners Point Golf Range, turn right onto Mariners Island Blvd. About 300 yards further, the first building on the right is 456 Mariners Island Blvd. There is plenty of street parking, but there is also a guest lot at the south end of the building.

From the South (example - San Jose): Take 101 N. exit at 92 East toward Hayward. The next exit is Mariners Island Blvd. Exit there and turn right at the light onto Mariners Island Blvd. Continue north on Mariners about 1/2 mile until you see 456 on the left. If you reach 3rd Ave, you missed it, just turn back and look for 1st building on the right. There is plenty of street parking, but there is also a guest lot at the south end of the building.

From the East Bay (example - Hayward, Fremont etc.): Cross the bay on Highway 92 West. Once across, take the Mariners Island / Edgewater Exit. At Fashion Island Blvd. turn Left. At Mariners Island, (1 block), turn right. Continue north on Mariners about 1/2 mile until you see 456 on the left. If you reach 3rd Ave, you missed it, just turn back and look for 1st building on the right. There is plenty of street parking, but there is also a guest lot at the south end of the building.
